Notes : “The author examines the influence of the vernacular (with particular reference to Akan) in learning to speak English. The author argues that Akan is deficient in the power to express tone and feeling and complex relationships; it is unsuitable for expressing long trains of thought. But on the whole it meets the actual needs of the people” (Amedekey 1970:178) - !!!
